Introduction Post!

Hello!!! My Name is Derek and I am a student at Arizona State University. Currently, I study public policy and have an interest in policy formulation and implementation at the large metropolitan city level. I am interning at the District 8 city council office in the city of Phoenix, AZ.

Three things That I hope to get out of this internship are:

  1. Develop a better understanding of how operations within the city are managed, and the processes involved in engaging the public.
  2. Find an area of interest from one of the many departments that make up the Phoenix City Hall.
  3. Learn from the skills and leadership styles of top level administrators and elected officials in order to further develop my leadership style.

    Hey Derek,

    Hope you are enjoying your internship. I worked as an intern with Mayor Stanton's office last semester and really enjoyed working with the city council and all the departments within the City of Phoenix and City Hall. It is great exposure for networking with various city officials and departments! Enjoy!

    Hi Derek,

    I hope all is going well with your internship, it sounds like an awesome opportunity. I am currently interning for the County Supervisors Association, which I feel is able to present me with a similar experience to what you will be getting at your internship. I am looking to expand my knowledge on how county supervisors go about managing each individual county and I would like to learn more about their role in society. It will be a good learning experience, seeing first-hand, how people manage on a daily basis and their tactics in doing so. Best of luck to you this semester!
