Free Write: Student Veteran’s Association event planning

Recently, there have been many meetings regarding the ASU Salute to Service Week. Since I am Vice President of the Downtown Chapter of Student Veteran’s Association, I have been attending many of these meeting. They are really quite interesting in how they come together.

One of my main responsibilities to these events is to secure funding, design, and place the order for the shirts being given to the veterans who attend. The whole process is pretty straightforward, however the Budget Allocation Committee approval process was a lengthy one.

This event is named Evolution of Service and is being held at the student center on the downtown campus of ASU. Many of the bigger organizations are taking part in this event so there will be a large amount of resources devoted to things like giveaways, food, and activities. I am really excited about it and hope it turns out well!

  1. Hey the Salute to Service event was awesome! I’m glad I was able to catch up with you when I was there. I thought this year’s turnout was great! I usually help with the college’s convocation ceremonies so I know just how fun and difficult making events come together can be. I think its pretty cool that you were able to take a more active role in the process through going to the meetings and seeing all that is involved in that part of the process.
